York and Back

Took a 120km ride out to York, WA and back this weekend, wee heee, what a ride, apart from my right hand going numb after the first fifty k’s, requiring a couple of stops to get the feelings in my fingers back, my Fury held it head high, with anew cornering confidence after the fitting of the new, raised forward controls.

Custom fitted Harley controls.

The road offered many sweeping lefts and rights tightening up from time to time, just enough to keep you on your toes and I discovered that there is a way back through Northam that offers an equal if not better ride home to Perth.
Unfortunately after spending a great day and night with my two young boys and wife on a friends farm just out of York we needed to get home the easiest way. I am going back up in a couple of weeks once I get my new parts :) and take some new pics for ya all to see.
Great back drop for pictures.

Taste of Freedom

I think I have finally got the meaning of, the freedom of riding.

I had to put my Fury away into the garage yesterday and I took it for a run around the block with no helmet, crazy… yes I know, wait, it gets worse. The feeling of the wind through my long curly, hot and sweaty hair was bordering enlightenment and I liked it. Today I just took the bike out, without a second glance at the helmet, I had no intention, I needed to feel that feeling again. I went further today, greatly increasing the risk of detection by the police and my chance of stuffing up.

Addictive ? Yes, I will now have to talk my self out of a habit formed in 2 rides, that overrides the habit formed over years, of wearing my helmet. At that point I got it, this is why the bikies fight the law, they want this freedom, the freedom to ride without a helmet and feel the wind in their hair. Unfortunately their unwillingness to work has led them to partake in less favourable trades, giving them the bad name they have today. Take some time to think about how it began, just the need to feel free. Nowadays anyone on a big bike with loud pipes is classed as a biker, a nuisance, a menace to society, against the law. It is not the case.

There are more of us Harley, Chopper and Cruiser riders for pleasure than clubs, we have jobs and follow the law mainly. But we are all called by that need for feeling free, to feel the wind in our hair, and in doing so break the law and compound the belief that all bikers are bad. So beware, don’t try this at home, it feels too good and before you know it you will be wearing a leather vest and poking your finger up at authority, a biker through and through.

All for the call of freedom to feel the wind in your hair.

Keep riding

V8 SUPERCARS SUPPORT QLD FLOOD APPEAL

By6:23 PM Wed 12 January, 2011Source: BigPond Sport

V8 Supercars Australia has moved quickly to assist those that have been affected by the floods that have devastated much of Queensland.

V8 Supercars Media Manager Cole Hitchcock said that the organisation is throwing their support behind the Queensland Flood Appeal.

“The flood disaster has affected so many people in the V8 Supercar fraternity- not only local teams but friends, relatives and fans in all regions across Queensland.”

“Many of the devastated regions such as Ipswich, Toowoomba, Brisbane and North Queensland are heartlands for our sport, and our thoughts are with all those who are going through a difficult time.”

V8 Supercars are supporting the Mates In Need Street Party in the Gold Coast’s Main Beach area this Friday night.

In partnership with companies including Harvey Norman, Myer, the street party in Tedder Avenue will raise money for victims of the Queensland floods.

Reigning V8 champion James Courtney and Chairman Tony Cochrane will be among guests attending a private fundraiser to support victims of the floods associated with the thoroughbred horse industry, which coincides with the Gold Coast’s annual Magic Millions event.

Show cars will be on display and V8 Supercar drivers will be in attendance at the street party, which will be open to the general public.  V8 Supercars are also donating items to a public raffle that will help raise funds for the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

“Our headquarters are based in Queensland so it is important that we help our local community, however I would urge all our fans across the country to donate to the Queensland flood appeal.” said Hitchcock.

Fans are encouraged to attend the Mates in Need Street Party at Tedder Avenue this Friday January 14th.

Donations can also be made via www.qld.gov.au/floods
